Free Consultation

I can provide a quick phone or email consultation on most cases to see if I can help. The purpose of the consultation is not to provide legal advice, but to gather information and perform an initial fact investigation. At the end of the consultation I will either quote a price, refer you to another attorney, or tell you that I need to perform further investigation before deciding whether to take your case. The fee type and amount depends on the type of case.

If you need legal advice, a paid consultation may be best. I have various flat or hourly options, so contact me to decide what works best for you.

Flat Fees

The flat fee is my preferred method. I will quote you a fee, to be paid in advance, that will cover the legal work on your case, regardless of time spent. In some cases, I may split different segments of the case into separate flat fees. Costs, such as printing or filing fees, may be part of the flat fee or may be separate, depending on the case. I am well-equipped to process easy, online payments. Some types of cases that work well for flat fees include document drafting or review and unemployment appeals.

Hourly Billing

If your case is very open-ended or it is difficult to estimate the amount of time required, hourly billing may be best. If I decide to use hourly billing for your case, I will ask you to pay a retainer to cover the estimated cost. The retainer will be kept in a trust account until earned, and you will receive monthly statements. If the amount gets low I will ask you to replenish it; if there is extra at the end you will get that money back.

Contingent Fee

If you have a strong case that is likely to result in litigation, a contingent fee may be best. You will not pay legal fees unless you obtain a recovery. My legal fee will generally be a percentage of your recovery.
